SIDELOCK EJECTOR DOUBLE TRIGGER HEAVY GAME OR PIGEON GUN WITH BEAVERTAIL FOREND AND CASE. Cal. 12 Ga., 2 3/4". S# 2286 (1971). The top of the line Bernardelli, this fine gun has 27 1/2" dovetailed bbls. with slightly raised matted game rib. Tops of bbls are engraved "Made in Italy" "V. Bernardelli s. p. a. Gardone V.T.". Engine turned bbl. flats are stamped w/ 1971 Italian Nitro proofs for 2 3/4" chambers. Coin finished sidelock action features non automatic safety ("SECURA" engraved), bushed strikers, hidden 3rd fastener, raised rib tumbler end cocking indicators, and dbl. triggers (front articulated). Action is engraved with full coverage ribbons & swags of acanthus having rose & other floral tips in a shaded background of small scroll. Fences are engraved with rose bouquets. Maker's name and address is on arched ribbon on bottom of action. Blued top lever and trigger guard are engraved to match. Straight grip buttstock of well marbled & nicely crotch figured European walnut measures 14 3/8" over thin brown rifle pad. Closely spaced point pattern checkering is at grip & slightly fluted drop points are behind lockplates. Matching schnabled beavertail ejector forend has Anson release. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: R .722", L .722". Restriction: R .013" (MOD), L .030" (FULL). Min. Wall Thickness: R .030", L .030". STOCK: DAH: 1 3/4". DAC: 1 3/8". LOP: 14 3/8". CAST: approx. 1/4" off. WEIGHT: 7 lb. 6 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: gun is housed in a best quality British oak & leather case with brass corners in leather trimmed canvas outter cover. Top of case is embossed "P" & "D" either side of central brass medallion. Interior is lined in burgandy cloth & has new Bernadelli label in lid & an old charge card. No accessories are present. CONDITION: very fine, appears to be original. Bbls. retaining over 90% good quality blue with some handling marks & light silvering. Action retains nearly all of its coin finish with some slight evidence of cleaning. Top lever & trigger guard retain most of their original blue. Trigger guard appears to be reblued, but with little polishing; engraving remains sharp. Stocks retain most of a light oil refinish, edges remaining sharp, checkering lightly worn. Bores are bright and shiny without any visible imperfections. Action is tight. Ejectors are strong and in time. Case leather is medium dark with many rubs and marks. Straps and handle are renewed. Outer cover shows light wear. Interior cloth is good with rubs & compressions w/ some soiling. Beavertail forend is too wide for bbl. channel & fit is very tight. (22-4537/MGM). CURIO. $4,000-7,000.
