ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 270 WCF. S# 88368. Mfg. 1948, the later period of the "Transitional" production era for the Winchester Model 70 spanning 1947-1948 (S# range approx. 60,500-87,700). Tapered 24" bbl. Hooded, stippled ramp mounted Win. 103C front sight & Win. 22G adj. rear sight. Type III receiver with tapered stock tang, matching number on bolt sleeve & transitional safety on cocking knob. Checkered walnut stock w/ "oval" pattern pistol grip, checkered steel buttplate, & sling swivels. CONDITION: very fine with over 95% original blue & wood finish showing a few handling marks or dings. Peak of buttplate has area of touch up blue & cleaned oxidation. Near excellent rifling. PROVENANCE: From the Lifetime Collection of Malcolm Zickler, Ret. USAF Lt. Col. (26-713/MD).
