BY JOHN DREISBACH. Cal. 38 rifled. NSN. 56 1/2" Overall. Bbl. 40" oct., initialed "JD" in script. J Dreisbach worked in Mifflinburg, PA. He was the son of John Dreisbach Sr. 4 Piece brass patchbox w/ 7 piercings. 4 1/2" Brass saddle plate. 5 1/4" Brass toe plate. Curly maple stock is stained very dark. Unmarked flintlock appears to be original flint. Stock is incise carved to the rear of the cheekpiece, carving is hard to see because of dark finish. CONDITION: patchbox release needs adjustment, Rifle had been broken through wrist and has been professionally repaired. 20" Of forestock has been replaced. Stock most likely was dark stained to hide the wrist & forend repairs. PROVENANCE: Collection of Dr. John Persing. (01-19618/RG). ANTIQUE. $1,200-1,800.
