SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9mm Kurz. S# 563445. Bbl. 3 7/8". Model 300 semi-automatic pistol mfg. in Spain by Astra under contract for Germany in 1942, falling under the appropriate S# range of 556001-55900. Top of the slide is marked with the Astra logo towards the muzzle, with Astra's mfg. information marked at the rear. Left side of the frame exhibits a triad of Spanish proofs, with an additional "P" within a flaming bomb proof marked on the left side of the slide. Frame and slide exhibit a blue finish, with some small parts being polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Half-moon blade front sight with U-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, slide, and bbl. MAGS: one 6-rd. CONDITION: metal components retain bountiful amounts of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting some superficial handling marks overall. The in-the-white parts show a few scattered spots of light surface-level pitting. Very bright bore, exhibiting what appears to be several areas of mild pitting towards the breech, while retaining well-defined rifling throughout. Grips show some minor smoothing, as well as a few scattered marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain very good overall. A very nice example of a German World War II contract Astra Model 300. PROVENANCE: from the lifelong collection of Bill Peterken. (24-6211/MLW). CURIO. $500-1,000.
