A very nice example of a WWII era Lafette tripod that was designed for the German MG34 Machine Gun. Tripod top, rear of mounting lugs marked w/ German code "eat" indicating Rudolf Schluckebier & Co. manufacture in 1943. Opposite of trigger marked "cql 43". With German manufacturing procedures being well known for over engineering, this mount is no exception. It is a multi-functional tripod designed for ground firing w/ a wide berth of traverse & elevation as well as the ability to add an anti-aircraft mount. These mounts are not a simple stationary device only designed to lift the firearm barely off the ground, but are complicated pieces of machinery that actually aid & assist in the function of the MG34. Use of this mount allows the MG34 to be fired while partially concealing the position of the operator if desired. There is a provision for mounting optics directly on the tripod when utilizing this system. Most external metal surfaces painted green. This is an original German MG34 Lafette tripod & not a much more common Yugo import designed around the MG42 / MG3. CONDITION: all moving parts are smooth w/ a full range & appear to function exactly as intended. Several German markings including manufacturing codes, dates & German WaA code inspection stamps. Firing mechanism moves freely & functions correctly. All adjustment related markings & data plates are clean & clear. Properly refinished w/ paint coverage is complete & consistent. Pads on front remain pliable & very smooth although they look like finish has been roughed up from gentle abrasion. Later slings, dated 1975. (02-24011/JZ). $600 - $800.
