BREECH SHOTGUN WITH WONDERFULLY CARVED FENCES. Cal. 10 Ga. 2-1/2". S# 17201. The 29-1/4" monoblock barrels are fitted with narrow swamped matted game rib. Scroll engraving is at breech ends. Barrel flats are stamped with chamber length, Darne info and grade "HORS" "CONCOURS" (highest). Bottoms of barrels are stamped with more French proofs and steel info. Sliding breech action without obturating discs has third fastener engaging rib extension and toggling safety on left side. "Darne" is between the ears of opening lever. Action is engraved with near full coverage very nicely cut rose and scroll. Fences are beautifully relief engraved with holly leaves and berries. Replacement buttstock of plain maple is uncheckered and measures 14-3/8" over white line pad. Original forend has horn tip. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: L .758. R .758. Restriction: L .035 (full). R .020 (mod). Wall thickness: L .040. R .040. STOCK: DAH: 2-7/8". DAC: 2-1/8". CAST: neutral. LOP: 14-3/8". WEIGHT: 7 lb. 8 oz. CONDITION: good with replaced buttstock. Barrels retaining about 80% original blue with some freckling. Action retains about 40% original case hardening color; the balance a pewter gray. Stocks with most of their original finish. Bores are bright and shiny throughout. Mechanically fine. This incredibly rare gun is certainly worthy of having a best quality restock. (25-2480/MGM). CURIO. $1,500-2,500.
