ORIGINAL SLIM JIM HOLSTER. S# 16. Cal. 36. S# 16. Less than 100 fluted cylinder navies are thought made. Other early serial numbers noted are 1, 3, 11, 29, & 30. Like fluted model 1860 armies, one flute is stamped: "PATENT SEPT 10th 1860". Unlike standard production models the capping cut out is not grooved. Standard configuration otherwise: "ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA" with dashes stamped on 7.5" barrel, small COLTS PATENT stamped left side of frame, mounted with varnished walnut one piece grips. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: copies of pages pertaining to this model from "The Book of Colt Firearms" by Sutherland & Wilson. Colt factory letter stating 1 of 20 revolvers sent to colt firearms, New York office 240 Broadway, New York City, April 16th 1861 just four days after the firing on Fort Sumter. CONDITION: very good overall, appears all original, tiny traces a blue and case color, grip frame retains about 25% original silver. Matching serial numbers observed on every part normally marked including barrel, frame, trigger guard, back strap, cylinder, and wedge. Well fit grips were not removed and retain most of their original factory varnish. Mechanically fine, crisp rifled bore. Revolver has well-fit slim Jim holster that clearly show the cylinder flutes that has always been with gun is in beautiful condition. PROVENANCE: Collection of Horst Kreiner. (01-24000/JS).
