SUBMACHINE GUN. Cal. 9mm. S# 00011. Bbl. 5.25". A very special submachine gun, both in rarity & in its place in the firearms industry. The Interdynamic MP-9 is an open bolt, blowback, select fire, submachine gun that is the grandfather of the infamous KG-9, and the later TEC-9 pistol family. Introduced in 1983, less than 25 were manufactured before Congress passed the Hughes Amendment of the Gun Owner Protection Act, making it illegal to manufacture a new machine gun for individual ownership. While designed in Sweden, it never entered production in its home countery & set up an American subsidiary in the United States, headed up by Carlos Garcia & George Kellgren, who would later found Kel-Tec. They had earlier introduced a semiautomatic version, the KG-9, which was an open bolt, blowback operated system. Following the 1982 BATF ruling outlawing open bolt semi auto firearms, they were redesigned as a striker fired, closed bolt system & designated the KG-99. The U.S. based branch located in Miami, FL eventually changed company name to Intratec where they later marketed it as the Tec-9, later changing to the DC-9. Following the Federal knee jerk reactionary assault weapons ban, changes were made to comply, such as mfg. the bbl. w/out threads at the bore where it was re-branded once again as the AB-10 ("AB" is After Ban). This example is a rare, original, select-fire MP-9. It is not a later converted TEC-9, but the real deal, manufactured in numbers rumored to be less than 25 units as configured in select-fire, w/ a factory collapsing stock. Units that were full auto only, w/ no stock were also manufactured in slightly larger numbers. Polymer frame & tubular upper receiver extended to the front, as a ventilated barrel shroud. Factory barrel includes compensator cuts forward of the barrel threads. Fixed sights permanently attached to receiver. The safety is built into the charging handle which engages into a slot cut at approx. 11 o'clock in the tubular receiver. It is engaged by rotating the bolt so the safety coincides w/ the safety slot. Parkerized matte black finish on exposed metal surfaces. Polymer receiver is injection molded black in color. Mag. release is located below the trigger to the rear of the mag. well. Selector is located forward of the trigger inside the trigger guard. Collapsible wire stock extends 8.5" rear of the receiver when extended. The MP-9 is functional w/ the stock open or closed. Vertical front pistol grip resides below the barrel shroud. Left side sling attachment points, currently sporting black nylon sling. MAGS: (3 total). 2 steel 32 rd. 1 steel 50 rd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Slotted, 7" barrel extension & leather briefcase. CONDITION: Matte black finish is complete & consistent w/ some gentle thinning in areas of mechanical intervention & some high spots. Bore is bright w/ strong rifling. Fire control mechanism appears to function correctly when cycled by hand. NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT MG REQUIRING BATF TRANSFER BEFORE TAKING POSSESSION. FULLY TRANSFERABLE.(03-1859/JZ). MODERN. CLASS III. 8,000-12,000.
