DELUXE TAKEDOWN MATTED BARREL LEVER ACTION SHORT RIFLE WITH CODY RESEARCH LETTER. Cal. 38-55. S# 116032. Bbl. 22" extra light octagon of takedown style w/ full length matted top. Half-length takedown mag. Lyman bead front sight, Lyman folding leaf rear sight & combination tang sight. Blue finish w/ case colored lever & hammer. 8 3/8" short rifle length forearm & hard rubber capped pistol grip stock of dark XXX fancy black walnut. Features include hard rubber shotgun buttplate & style H checkering. Left inside of lower tang has assembly number "12070" followed by "XXX" wood grain marking w/ additional markings "0HR". Top tang channel of stock has matching assembly number "12070". UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Cody Firearms Museum records check listing the following information, "Serial number applied on June 12, 1901 / Type: Rifle / Caliber: 38/55 / Barrel Type: Octagon / Barrel Length: 22 inches / Extra Light / Trigger: Plain / Checkered stock, Pistol grip / Sights: Lyman front, leaf and rear / 1/2 Magazine / Takedown / Oil Finish / Nickel steel / Matted / Rubber butt / Received in warehouse on July 08,1901 / Shipped from warehouse on August 10, 1901, Order number 93944". CONDITION: bbl. retains over 90% lightly worn finish showing slight edge wear w/ takedown marks on bottom flat. Receiver has 70% dull blue showing carry wear w/ intermittent flaking. Hammer & lever have dull lightly faded case colors. Stocks show areas of finish wear w/ scattered scratches & handling marks.
