Cal. 8x57 (8mm Mauser). S# 868a. Bbl. 23 1/2". Blade front sight with protective hood. Tangent rear sight graduated to 2000m. Very rare Kriegsmarine (Navy) issued G29/40 bolt action rifle. Rifle assembled by Steyr using Polish WZ-29 receiver. Receiver top has "660" code for Steyr, Polish eagle, Radom markings, and 1939 date. Let side of receiver has canceled "wz" and undisturbed "29/40" markings. All visible matching numbers and parts bear the correct eagle "77" and "623" inspection stamps. Front of trigger guard has "GERMANY" pre-1968 import stamp. Blued finish. Laminated stock set with left side sling provisions and leather K98k sling. Right side of butt has eagle "M" Kriegsmarine stamp. Stock has several Steyr "623" inspection stamps. Left side of stock disc has "N" Nordsee marking. Unnumbered cleaning rod present. CONDITION: stock set shows the expected scattered dings and handling wear. Metal is a mostly silvery-gray color showing honest wear, scattered traces of original blue, a few light dings, and some light oxidation. Action functions properly when hand-cycled.
