JOHN TRY. Cal. 42 rifled. NSN. Bbl. 36" full oct. w/ initials on bbl. attributed to John Try. 4" Brass saddle plate & a unique gull wing cheekpiece. There are very few, if any, of this mans full stock guns remaining. John Try is said to have worked in Beaver Springs, Snyder County. This gun w/ its unique in period repairs is quite rare. CONDITION: gun is sound but shows signs of hard use. The break through the lock area was neatly repaired, in period, w/ a leather bandage. Wood repairs between lock & bbl. tang & forward of toeplate were also done in period. PROVENANCE: Collection of Dr. John Persing. (01-19625/RG). ANTIQUE. $1,500-2,500.
