This is a seldom encountered example of an 1882 revolver & sword belt often referred to as a Metcalf belt. This interesting belt has a “D ring” type buckle on 1 end & a holed tongue on the other end to facilitate sizing. Near the end of the tongue area is a square brass frame buckle. Belt is plainly marked “ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL” on the outside. A tan canvas 12 rd. cotton web cartridge holder is laced to the belt w/ rawhide. There is a 7 1/2" leather belt clipped to the area beside the cartridge holder likely to prevent rubbing from a holster. The sword straps are connected to brass loops. CONDITION: belt is in very good condition. Sword straps are complete. Belt shows use but no notable damage. (02-15752/BF). 1,500-2,000.
