TRAINING CAMERA. S# 1630. The Rokuoh-Sha machine gun camera is a rare and sought-after piece of Japanese military history. It was designed to replicate the configuration of a flexible aircraft machine gun to train aerial gunners prior to using live machine guns. This was done by snapping photos, which were later analyzed to determine accuracy. Snaps 18x24mm images utilizing 35mm film. Capable of shooting at 10 frames per second. Has a pistol grip with a spade handle. Has a spiderweb-type aircraft rear sight, which coincides with the long front post sight. Black-painted crackle finish. All markings are in Japanese. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: fitted wooden case containing attaching cables, film canisters, transparent hood, oil bottle, additional trigger and guard, six reusable film canisters, and factory paperwork in Japanese. CONDITION: camera has very little finish wear, retaining full coverage, which is unusual for equipment of this age and type. Number plate on the right side of the receiver is in excellent condition and clearly readable. Box has a gray finish and is still wearing painted Japanese characters that are numbered to match the camera gun. It displays some wear and chipping since it is a shipping container, but it is in much nicer condition than the majority that this cataloger has yet to encounter. (02-21138/JZ). NON-GUN. $1,500-2,500.
