DOUBLE RING PUSH DAGGER. 11.75”overall, 7” hefty double edge hollow ground dagger point blade, .25” thick at ricasso which stamped on both sides “M PRICE / SF”. Silver plated cast 3” German silver guard with unique double finger loop is elegantly engraved between rings. Walrus grip has worn incised scrimshaw scrolls on one side. Silver sheath with 3” steel belt loop, German silver ball finial. This unique dagger is pictured on cover of “ANTIQUE BOWIE KNIFE ASSOCIATION JOURNAL” #1 2020 and page 307 of “A SURE DEFENSE, THE BOWIE KNIFE IN AMERICA” which chronicled the greatest curated display of American Bowies in 2013. This is type of Michael Price special order dagger that made gamblers notorious in pop culture, as this is a sinister weapon with one purpose. CONDITION: good to very good overall, blade gray/bright with some staining & light pitting, few small nicks in cutting edge, point chipped. Putty repairs to 2 chips in grip opposite carved side, & age cracks, grip has overall mellow patina. Silver sheath has several dings, dents, light bends, and light areas of pitting unaffecting aesthetic. PROVENANCE: ex-Guy Manwaring collection. (02-19362/JS). $20,000-25,000.
