SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 Ga 2-3/4’’. S# 11048. Features include double under lug & third bite locking, hinged front trigger & ejectors. Full coverage engraving features vignette on right lock of setter & quail & second vignette of waterfowl. Left lock features vignette of hounds & elk & another of 2 quail. Floorplate features a stag & 2 prairie chickens. Bolsters have flying doves & trigger guard has a pointer. Balance of receiver, forearm iron & breech ends of both bbls. have fine scroll engraving. Top lever, forearm tip & breech of both bbls. are marked w/ gold no. 2 indicating this was the second gun of a 2 gun set. Splinter forearm w/ Anson release & round knob stock of fine European walnut. Features include point pattern hand checkering, tear drop points & oval nameplate in toeline. Stock has a filled hole for sling swivel attachment, both bbls. have swivel bases only. LOP: altered to 14-1/8’’ over an aftermarket solid rib pad. DAC: 1-1/2’’. DAH: 2-1/16’’. Stock has approx. 1/4’’ cast off. Both bbls. have hand matted concave solid ribs. (Bbls. No. 1) 26’’. Bore diameter: RT .723, LT .723. Choke constriction: RT .005, LT .020. Minimum wall thickness: RT .024, LT .032. (Bbls. No. 2) 30’’. Bore diameter: RT .720, LT .718. Action retains small amounts of case colors in protected areas w/ balance having a cleaned gray appearance. Refinished wood shows light marks. Bbl. no. 1 has very good bright bores.
