VETERAN W/ PAPERWORK AND MEDALS. Randall Model 14. 11 7/8" overall with a 7 1/4" blade. This knife was carried by Marine veteran Kelly A. Norris in Vietnam in 1967-68 as stated in a letter from Mr. Norris to Glen E. Mattox. The knife is a Model 14 "ATTACK" with a heavy blade which measures 7 1/4". Knife has an overall length of 11 7/8" and is stated in a letter by Mr. Kelly to be stainless steel. It is marked on the right ricasso with "ST". Blade is also marked on the left side with the "curved swords", "RANDALL MADE" and "SOLINGEN". The name "KELLY A. NORRIS" is acid etched on the right side of the blade. Heavy straight brass crossguard. The tang extends through the one piece brown laminated grip which has finger grooves and a lanyard hole. The brown leather sheath is marked on the front of the belt loop "RANDALL MADE KNIVES ORLANDO FLA.". The sheath has a pocket containing a sharpening stone and is equipped with a tie down thong. The group also contains a hand written bill of sale dated "9-3-98" , two copies of a statement detailing the knife and Mr. Kelly's service in Vietnam. A letter dated the same day identifies the men including Mr. Norris in the three included photographs. There are two copies of "DD 214 MC" pertaining to Mr. Kelly's transfer to the Marine Corps Reserve. The medals with their accompanying ribbons are the "Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/ 1960 devise", the" Vietnam Service Medal w/ one star" and the "National Defense Medal". CONDITION: the knife blade has been lightly sharpened and shows some scattered tiny nicks and shows light wear. The crossguard has light wear turning patina. Grip shows moderate wear and handling marks throughout. Sheath shows heavier wear with staining and flexing. Stitching is tight. Sharpening stone has been broken and repaired by gluing.
