The graphics depict women dancing while pouring wine into a glass above the phrase "Popular French Tonic Wine". The lower panel states "Finest Peruvian Coca" in bold uppercase letters. The lower panel extols "No Finer Restorative For Body and Brain". NOTE: developed and concocted by the chemist Angelo Mariani, Bordeau Wine was mixed with Coca leaves which interacted with the alcohol content producing a distilled form of cocaine. The wine was filtered, bottled and sold by the inventor as Vin Mariani at 10% alcohol and 8% cocaine. It is purported that numerous dignitaries of the time were consumers of the wine before the French Government banned the product, but not before Mariani became a millionaire several times over. SIZE: 65" h x 21" w. CONDITION: original dry surface, slight fading. Otherwise good. (05-872/TG). $2,000-2,500.
