Head is from very large bull bison. Bison were referred to in America as Buffalo. Vast herds of Buffalo roamed much of the United States. The eastern herd was found in western New York hence the city being named Buffalo & in Kentucky. The western herds roamed The Great Plains in vast numbers. The Buffalo supported the way of life for many Native American tribes who utilized every portion of this large animal for food, shelter & even fuel. Hunted to near extinction in the later half of the 19th century, they have been brought back to a large & stable population. The mount would extend approx. 42" horizontally when mounted on a wall & 48" high. The overall 29" to the outside of the horns. CONDITION: mount has significant loss of hair in neck area. Has cracking issues around eyes & nose resulting in leakage of plaster dust. Horns appear solid. (02-15430/RW). $300-500.
