This very heavy VMI overcoat likely dates to the WWI era or shortly after. It is created of cadet gray wool with a deep red wool lining on the cape. The front of the cape has two rows of 5 WWI era VMI buttons (1 missing). The rear has another 2 buttons at the top of the tail. The cape has one row of 7 small size VMI buttons. The interior of the coat is lined with what appears to be black rayon. A tag sewn to the outside of the inside pocket reads "JONES, P.H. 43-53-19-18 3/4" along with the words "by Jacob Reed's Sons NORRISTOWN, PA.". CONDITION: the overcoat and cape show scattered noticeable, but minor, moth damage. (02-24283/BF). $200-300.
