Cal. 36. NSN. Bbl. 36 3/4". Half stock percussion Kentucky rifle produced by W. Meier. Top flat of the heavy rifled octagonal bbl. is marked "W. MEIER . WOOSTER. O". Lockplate exhibits light engraving with several birds engraved on the left. Mfg. marking on lockplate is illegible. Wood buttstock has been sanded and revarnished. Brass crescent buttplate, trigger guard, nose cap, and ramrod ferrule base. Underside of bbl. features 2 iron ramrod ferrules. Set triggers. German silver blade front sight with V-notch rear sight. CONDITION: iron components exhibit gray and brown patinas overall, with the bbl. and lockplate exhibiting corrosion around the bolster. Brass components exhibit a pleasing mellow patina, with the ferrule and nose cap appearing to have been cleaned at one time. Action does not lock into the rearward position. Stock exhibits some scattered handling marks, with a loss at the right edge of the lockplate, as well as a repaired crack on the right side of the forearm.
