Cal. 10 Ga., 3". S# 20929 (1882). The 30" skelp damascus barrels are engraved with maker's name and Haymarket London address along with Field gun trial dates ending with 1879 on concave game rib. Rear of rib is engraved "Patent Trebble" "Wedge Fast". Barrel flats are unmarked, bottoms of barrels are stamped with Birmingham black powder proofs for "13B" "14M" & '"NOT FOR BALL" (an obvious mistake because this gun definately has 10 gauge chambers. Bore diameters are about .760). Heavy boxlock action is fitted with Greener side safety, cross bolt third fastener and double triggers. Action engraved with about 50% coverage small scroll with maker's name on each side. S# is on trigger guard tang. Round knob pistol grip buttstock of very fancy marbled and stump figured European walnut measures 14 1/4" over hand checkered horn buttplate. Point pattern checkering is at grip and a vacant silver oval is on toeline. Matching splinter forend with inlet horn tip has Deeley release. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: L .757. R .762. Restriction: L .002 (IC). R .015 (Mod). Wall thickness: L .030. R .021. STOCK: DAH: 3 1/4". DAC: 1 7/8". CAST: about 1/2" off. LOP: 14 1/4". WEIGHT: 9 lb. 1 oz. CONDITION: fine. Barrels retaining most of what appears to be their original brown with good definition to interesting pattern. Action retains 30-40% case hardening color, floorplate and trigger guard retain about half their original blue. Buttstock a possible replacement, retains most of a shiny finish; checkering recut. Forend checkering shows considerable wear. Bores are bright and shiny with evidence of minor dent removal in both barrels about 9" behind muzzles. Action has slight looseness with forend removed, is tight with forend installed. (01-24231/MGM). ANTIQUE. $1,500-2,250.
