ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 8mm Mauser. S# 8325b. Bbl. 19 3/8". Non matching numbers. Scarce carbine mfg. at BRNO in Czechoslovakia, many of which were issued to German mountain troops. This particular specimen has scratches inscription on buttstock, protective plate on left side "FALLSCHIRMJAGER 741 (????) KURSK" & "43". Receiver marked on left rail "G.33/40". Receiver ring marked on top w/ waffenamt "653", "dot" & "1942". Turned down bolt handle w/ hollow knob. Bolt handle marked underneath w/ "N5". Tangent rear sight graduated to 1000 meters. Inverted V front sight. Fitted w/ non standard sight protector. Front sight is mounted on 1 1/8" sleeve which is attached to muzzle end of bbl. Sleeve is not rifled. Cleaning rod & bayonet lug are present. Has provision for side sling. Laminated buttstock & walnut handguard. Buttstock has steel takedown hole, cup type buttplate & sheet metal stock protector fitted to left side. CONDITION: stock set has early arsenal rework type finish w/ markings rendered illegible. Handguard has lg. crack at top between bbl. bands. Metal has been cleaned, turning gray w/ traces of original blue. Muzzle sleeve has notable gray appearance. Bore has worn lands turning dark in grooves. (21-2800/RW). CURIO. $800-1,200.
