WITH CAPTURE PAPERWORK. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 5457j. Bbl 4 7/8". Standard configuration P.38 manufactured at the Walther arsenal in 1942. The left side of the receiver is stamped "P.38" followed by Walther's manufacturer code and the year of manufacture "ac/42", and the serial number, with an Eagle/359 waffenamt stamped on either side of an eagle firing proof on the right. Metal components are blued, with the frame being mounted with 2 piece grooved pressed resin grips. All numbers are matching and include the frame, slide, barrel, and locking block. MAGS: 2 8 rnd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: brown leather holster stamped "gxy 1943" on the rear containing 1 spare serialized magazine. 1 capture certificate dated "10-16-45" listing this pistol by serial number as having been brought home by Erwin Becker. Rear of capture certificate is handwritten "I hereby certify that this gun was transferred to my brother Walther B. Becker and was brought home from France" above "Erwin R. Becker/ 16090823". CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original arsenal blue finish, exhibiting some scattered areas of wear and thinning, with areas of pinprick pitting on either side of the slide. Bright bore, exhibiting some mild oxidation in the lands and retaining good rifling throughout. Grips show a few scattered handling marks, but are otherwise very good. Holster exhibits scattered marks from handling and storage, with areas of mild crazing and age related cracking overall. (23-2252/MLW). CURIO. $1,000-1,800.
