MARKED SS MAGAZINE. Cal. 7.65mm. S# 243439k. Bbl. 3 1/4". PPK semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Walther circa. 1939. The left side of the slide is marked with the Walther banner logo, followed by Walther's mfg. information as well as the model and cal. designations, with the S# marked on the right. Right side of frame (on chamber), slide, and bbl. exhibit a Crown/N commercial nitro proof. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with a 1-piece Walther banner checkered mottled brown plastic grip. Standard blade front sight, with U-notch rear sight. The full S# "243439k" is present on the right side of the frame and slide. Mag. is spuriously marked with the SS pattern S# over "1" on the spine. MAGS: one 8-rd with mottled brown plastic grip extension. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning that show through to gray patina, as well as scattered areas of light to mild pitting and surface oxidation overall. Near mirror bore, exhibiting a few small scattered spots of light surface-level pitting while retaining strong rifling throughout. Grip shows some smoothing to the checkering, superficial handling marks, and a few dings, with cracking present on the top of either side as well as at the screw escutcheons. Mag. grip extension shows scattered handling marks and some age-related deformation, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. PROVENANCE: the estate collection of Charles Wagner. (24-4642/MLW).
