LIGHT DRAGOON FLINTLOCK PISTOL. Cal. 62. NSN. Bbl. 9 1/8" round w/ smoothbore having 2 British proof marks at left side. Lock is marked w/ crown over GR. Trigger guard bow is engraved “Bucks” referring to the Bucks Volunteers of the 85th light infantry regiment of Wellington’s army. The 85th fought in the battles of Bladensburg, the burning of Washington D.C., Baltimore & New Orleans in 1815. Pin fastened walnut stock. Brass fittings consist of butt cap, trigger guard, side plate, brass thimble & single pipe holding a hardwood ramrod. CONDITION: metal has a mottled gray appearance showing substantial wear. Stock shows heavy wear w/ handling marks having a crack in the side plate area. Forearm section shows numerous small holes & areas of repair. Functioning lock. Dark deeply pitted bore. (01-23066/DS).
