COMBINATION GUN. Cal. 16 Ga. / 8x57 JR. S# 343211 (Aug. 1944). This JP Sauer Drilling appears to a commercial production variant of the well known Luftwaffe M30 Survival Drilling produced in August of 1944 (based on water table proofs), in a time period where the Allied Nations were liberating Paris, France & the Soviet Union was pushing back the Germans through Eastern Europe. The matching numbered Krupp-Laufstahl 23 5/8" barrels have checkered rib having blade front sight & flip up rear sight. Shotgun tubes have fixed Full chokes. Water table has "16 / 65" marking indicating 2 1/2" chambers, Eagle "N" & other indiscernible eagle proofs along with Suhl proof. Case hardened boxlock action with sprays of scroll engraving. Action features Greener style safety, crossbolt third fastener, cocking indicators, side clips on fences, double triggers, extractors & top tang selector. Checkered walnut forearm with Deeley release & matching number on fire. Walnut pistol grip buttstock with checkering at wrist, Bavarian cheekpiece, sling swivel, & case hardened steel grip cap. LOP: 13 1/2" to JP Sauer buttplate. WEIGHT: 6 lbs., 10 oz. CONDITION: very good original blue on barrels with scattered pinprick oxidation & very light fading finish. Action has good vivid case colors with worn varnish in carry areas of receiver & silvering on triggerguard tang. Very good original wood finish with light handling marks. Very good shotgun bores with light fouling. Very good rifled bore with strong rifling. (25-757/MD). CURIO. $2,500-3,500.
