PISTOL. Cal. 455 Webley. S# 4375. Bbl. 5". Mark I 1913 semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Webley & Scott under contract for the British Royal Navy. Left side of the slide is marked with Webley & Scott's winged bullet above "W&S" logo, followed by the model and cal. designations. British military proofs are present overall. Metal components exhibit what appears to be a period reapplied dull blue finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered black vulcanite grips, featuring a grip safety, lanyard swivel, and ring on the rear grip strap. Right grip panel exhibits notably larger checkering. Fixed blade front sight with dovetailed U-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching via the full S# and include the frame, grip safety, slide, and bbl. MAGS: 1 blued 7-rd. mag., with 6 transverse indicator holes. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their reapplied blue finish, showing areas of wear and thinning that are fading to gray patina, scattered handling marks, and some spots of light surface oxidation. Front grip strap has faded to a mostly gray/brown patina. Bright bore, exhibiting consistent light pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips show scattered marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. (25-3554/MLW). CURIO. $1,500-2,500.
