Cal. 455. S# 637. Bbl. 5". Mark I semi-automatic pistol, mfg. by Webley & Scott under contract for the British Navy. The left side of the slide is marked with the Webley & Scott winged bullet logo above "W&S", followed by "WEBLEY & SCOTT LTD/ PISTOL SELF-LOADING 455 MARK I N/ 1913". Slide and frame exhibit Birmingham nitro proofs, with military proofs scattered overall. Metal components (save for the hammer) have been cleaned and are in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered vulcanite grips. Recoil lever bar / breech stop has split into two pieces and exhibits a previously welded repair. Due to breakage, slide and bbl. S#s cannot be verified. Left grip panel is a replacement and features finer checkering than the right panel. MAGS: one 7-rd. CONDITION: metal components are very good, as cleaned and in-the-white, exhibiting some areas of light to mild pitting, some scattered handling marks, as well as some light age-related discoloration. Dark bore, exhibiting consistent pitting while retaining fair rifling throughout. Grips exhibit smoothing and scattered marks from handling and storage, with a chip and a crack present on the left panel. (24-4082/MLW). CURIO. $2,000-3,000.
