LUGER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH HOLSTER & ACCESSORIES. Cal. 9x19mm Parabellum. S# 3839t. Bbl. 4". Originally mfg. as a 1920 Commercial Luger, this example was subsequently reworked into a P.08 configuration during the Weimar era for police use. The bbl. extension is marked with an Eagle/WaA66 proof on the right, with the area above the chamber remaining blank. Underside of the bbl., as well as the left side of the bbl. extension and breechblock exhibit a Crown/N commercial nitro proof. Front grip strap is police unit marked "L.H.68", indicating issue to the Hannover Landjagerei. Major metal components exhibit what appears to be a period reapplied blue finish, with some smaller components exhibiting either a straw or nitre blue finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Standard blade front sight with V-notch rear sight. Bbl. extension is fitted with a Schiwy-Sear safety. Frame has been cut and retains part of its Walther mag. safety. All serialized components are matching in the commercial fashion and include the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, bbl., rear toggle link, and rear toggle link pin. Mag. is missing its retention pin for its blank aluminum bottom. MAGS: two 8-rd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: black leather holster marked "ROBERT LARSEN/ BERLIN/ 1933" above a police starburst stamp on the rear panel. Holster contains one non-matching Starburst/K police-proofed mag, as well as a loading tool that is marked "610.". CONDITION: metal components retain the vast majority of their reapplied blue finish, exhibiting some areas of light wear, with some scattered spots of light to mild surface oxidation present overall. Grip straps exhibit a few areas of wear and thinning that show through to gray and brown patinas. Strawed components exhibit some wear through to gray patina, with some scattered spots of age-related discoloration. Very bright bore, exhibiting some very light pitting while retaining strong rifling throughout. Grips exhibit some light smoothing, as well as a few scattered nicks to the diamonds, with a small chip present on the left panel in the usual area (to the right of the safety lever). Leather holster remains malleable, exhibiting age-related cracking overall, with some scattered spots of crazing. Closure flap exhibits two small holes on the front, likely from a previous adornment. PROVENANCE: from the lifelong collection of Jim Williams. (24-2690/MLW). CURIO. $1,500-2,000.
