SPECIAL DA REVOLVER. Cal. 38 Spl. S# 16769. Bbl. 4" w/ semicircular front sight. First Issue revolver, last patent date 1905. 6 Shot long flute cyl. Blue finish. 2 Piece checkered hard rubber Colt marked grips. Butt of gun is stamped "W. F. & Co. A. 202". Factory records indicate that shipment of 338 guns of the same type matching this description were shipped March 31, 1909 to W. M. Ashton, Purchasing Agent, New York, NY. CONDITION: action retains over 80% original blue showing light edge wear & scattered spots of corrosion & light freckling. Bbl. has over 80% reblued finish showing edge wear & spots of freckling. Grips show moderate wear. Right panel has epoxy repair along backstrap. Good mechanics. Bore retains good rifling showing spots of light pitting. PROVENANCE: The Estate of Richard Willman.
