SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 GA, chambers are lengthened to 2 3/4". S# 138250. Bbls. 20" of twist steel with Cyl. and Cyl. bores. Brass front bead. Rib has an added apparently pantographed marking "W.F. & CO's EXP. NO. 55". Boxlock Manier Model action has similar hand stamped marking on right side "W.F. & CO. EXP. NO. 55". Double triggers and extractors. Splinter forearm and hard rubber capped pistol grip stock of checkered walnut. LOP: 13 15/16" over original buttplate. DAC: 1 7/8". DAH: 2 15/16". Stock has a neutral cast. Weight: 7lbs. 4.2oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Ithaca Acquisition Corporation letter stating: "According to the serial number of this old Ithaca double, 138250, it's a MANIER MODEL made in 1907. I would say that the stampings on the gun, W.F. & CO. EXP. NO. 55, was an experimental gun tried out by Wells Fargo back then. I'm not sure exactly when Ithaca started supplying Wells Fargo with their shotguns, but I would dare say this is an original double gun sold to Wells Fargo". CONDITION: bbl. retains 80% dark lightly faded brown finish showing scattered spots of corrosion. Case colored action has faded to gray. Stock and forearm show finish and checkering wear with added finish show scratches marks and dents. Stock is cracked through the wrist area. Action is tight and on face. Good bores. PROVENANCE: The Esteemed Norm Greenberg Collection. (25-4217/DS). CURIO. $1,000-1,500.
