NATIONALE HIGH POWER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH HOLSTER. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 53245. Bbl. 4 5/8". High Power semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Fabrique Nationale, likely for the West German police in the early 1950s. The left side of the slide is marked "FABRIQUE NATIONALE D'ARMES DE GUERRE/ HERSTAL BELGIQUE/ BROWNING'S PATENT DEPOSE". Left side of the frame, slide, and right side of the bbl. exhibit Belgian commercial proofs. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the bbl., which is polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips, which feature red anti-moisture barrier paint on the interior of the panels. Thumbprint slide, with fixed half-moon blade front sight. Rear sight has been modified via the milling of the center area of the original V-notch rear sight, and the addition of a higher square notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, slide, and bbl. MAGS: 2 13-rd. 1 is matching via an electro-penciled "53245" on the spine, with the front face of the mag. body having been slightly ground down near the feed lips at one point in time. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: post-war German black leather holster, marked "A .KIND/ HUNSTIG" beneath the closure flap strap. Interior of closure flap exhibits a handwritten handwritten "Beier g Pol. Rer.". CONDITION: very good, with metal components retaining the vast majority of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting some light to mild edge wear, a couple of spots of light to mild wear and thinning, some superficial handling marks, as well as a couple of spots of light to mild surface oxidation. Bore is bright, exhibiting consistent light to mild pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Grips are very good overall, save for a small crack that is present at the top of the right panel. Holster remains malleable, exhibiting wear, scattered marks from handling and storage, as well as some spots of light age related cracking and crazing, but otherwise remains sturdy ands serviceable. PROVENANCE: the Estate Collection of Charles Wagner. (25-283/MLW). CURIO. $1,200-1,800.
