Cal. 69. NSN. Bbl. 42 w/ bayonet stud. "N HAVEN" marked in banner on lock w/ brass pan & spear tip finial spring. 3 Band musket stock w/ musket buttplate & button tipped ramrod. Toeline of stock stamped "D". Left ear of stock has "JN" J. Newbury inspector cartouche, stamped "79" & hand scratched "W. A. Rulam". "5" Stamped behind top tang. Lock marked "II.B" & "8" on interior. Internal parts of lock have assembly number "VI". UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Socket bayonet measuring 17.75", blade: 15". Stamped by mortise "11991" & "I". Also stamped "MS". CONDITION: exposed portions of bbl. & lock have dark brown patina appearance w/ heavily pitting around lock along w/ light corrosion & pitting throughout. Hammer, frizzen & frizzen spring appear replacements, while rest of lock appears original flint. Stock has a fine original finish showing an occasional sm. gouge, crack & scratch commensurate with age. Markings on stock appear mostly visible. Buttplate has large areas of black patina. Triggerguard has cleaned appearance with light pitting & reacquiring patina. Dark pitted bore. (01-22704/MD). ANTIQUE. $700-1,100.
