COLT 2ND GEN SAA REVOLVERS. Consecutively serial numbered cased set. Cals. 45 Colt. Bbls. 7 1/2". Six shot fluted cyls. Blue & case colored finishes. 1 piece fancy walnut grips w/ lanyard rings at butts. Tops of bbls. & right sides of frames are marked "US". William Orville Douglas was born in Minnesota on October 16th, 1898 & died January 19th, 1980. He was nominated for the United States Supreme Court by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt in 1939 & served until he stepped down in 1975. His 36 years & 211 days of service made him the longest serving Supreme Court Justice in our country's history. He was an advocate of the public & environmental concerns & is also known for writing almost 500 dissents. GUN 1: S# 73016SA. (24-4703/DS). GUN 2: S# 73017SA. (24-4704/DS). UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Colt marked 2 gun wooden case w/ red velour fitted interior. Leather label on case lid is marked "PRESENTED TO / WILLIAM O. DOUGLAS / DECEMBER 25, 1975 / FOR 36 YEARS / OF FAITHFUL SERVICE / WITH THE / UNITED STATES SUPREME COURT". CONDITION: both guns are near excellent & appear to be unused.
