Cal. 44 HRF. S# 153491. Bbl. 20” round. Band mounted blade front sight. Later style carbine leaf rear sight is reverse mounted. Full length mag. Brass action w/ saddle ring & staple on left side. Non-original short band-fastened walnut forearm. Replacement walnut rifle stock w/ crescent steel buttplate. Mfg. 1880. CONDITION: bbl. & mag. tube have dark appearance w/ scattered pitting having a series of small dents around forend band. Action has coating of lacquer giving it a unnatural gold color. Forearm shows heavy wear & age darkening w/ chips, dents & marks. Replacement stock shows scattered scratches & has poor fit to frame. Lever latch is a replacement. Trigger pull is unnaturally hard.
