Cal. 44 HRF. S# 152425. Bbl. 24" octagon. Blade front sight, with sporting rear sight. Full length tubular mag. Brass action has 2 braze filled holes for saddle ring loop attachment on the left side. Top tang has a 1/4" diameter open threaded hole that appears to be for a tang sight attachment. Walnut forearm and straight grip stock, with crescent steel trapdoor buttplate. Left inside of lower tang is marked with assembly # "153" and "1624". Top tang channel of stock is marked with assembly # "193". Mfg. in 1880. CONDITION: bbl. and mag. tube blue has dull fading appearance indicating some touch up, with scattered small dents and scratches. Receiver shows heavy cleaning, retaining numerous scratches and marks. Refinished wood has heavily weathered appearance, showing numerous scratches and marks. Stock has an added wood repair, left of top tang. Sound action. Dark lightly pitted bore, retains strong rifling. PROVENANCE: Estate of Russell Dickerman. (01-27111/DS). ANTIQUE. $4,000-6,000.
