ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 44 HRF. S# 37400. Bbl. 24" octagon. German silver blade Rocky Mountain front sight. Graduated leaf rear sight is shortened with removal of the leaf. An additional dovetail is cut through the markings 3 1/8" forward of the rear sight. Full length tubular mag. Brass action, top tang has 1/4" diameter added hole forward of the tang screw for apparent use with a lollipop style tang sight. Walnut forearm and straight grip stock with brass trapdoor crescent buttplate. Stock and forearm have ornamentation consisting of 20 tacks on the forearm and 91 tacks on the stock. Tack ornamentation is often associated with Native American use. Left inside of lower tang is stamped with assembly # "0". The forearm cap has open hole for sling swivel attachment. Rear sling swivel is cut off leaving the screw attached base and pin. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: handwritten letter signed by Ron Kudryk describing the rifles history and configuration with mention of the Wild West Museum in Virginia City, NV. CONDITION: bbl. and mag. tube have faded to gray showing handling marks and spots of corrosion. Brass action has a dark mottled tarnish showing scratches, marks, and small dents. Wood has dark worn appearance. Forearm has large cracks along both sides. Stock is chipped on both sides of the top tang and at the buttplate toe.
