LEVER ACTION CARBINE. Cal. 44 WCF. S#. 24683. Bbl. 20" carbine style. Mag band mounted front sight w/ carbine leaf rear sight. Late 1st model w/ mortised & checkered dust cover. Left side has staple attached saddle ring. Action & butt plate have after market hand engraving. The vine type foliate scroll engraving has punch dot backgrounds w/ an open banner on left sideplate. Bottom of brass lifter has a flower highlight. Band fastened carbine forend & straight grip stock w/ trap door carbine buttplate. MFg. 1878. UNATTACHED ACCESORIES: 3 piece cleaning rod held in stock compartment. Cody Firearms Museum records check stating: "Serial number application date not available / Type: Carbine / Received in warehouse on November 24, 1876 / Shipped from warehouse on April 07, 1879, Order number 15133". CONDITION: Metal has a cleaned gray appearance w/ small spots of very light pitting. Sanded & refinished wood is undersize at action showing scratches, marks & small dents. Sound action. Bore shows scattered pitting retaining sound rifling. (01-25894/DS). ANTIQUE. $2500-3500.
