Cal. 45-75. S# 226. Bbl. octagon, shortened to 19 3/8". Reattached front sight, missing blade. Open rear dovetail w/ front portion of original sight cut short & dovetailed into the front receiver ring. Mag. is shortened to match bbl. length. Walnut forearm & straight grip stock w/ crescent steel buttplate. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: letter from the Cody Firearms Museum detailing the following information, "Type: Rifle / Barrel Tye: Octagon / Trigger: Set / Received in warehouse on August 13, 1877 / Shipped from warehouse on August 21, 1877, Order number 9830". CONDITION: metal has a mottled brown appearance. Action shows small dents w/ area of brazing on right lockplate. Lockplate screws are replaced w/ a bolt & nut. Wood has a worn weathered appearance w/ numerous dents, scratches & marks. Stock is loose on frame w/ cracks behind tangs. Functioning action. Dark pitted bore w/ worn rifling.
