Cal. 45-60 WCF. S# 3328. Bbl. 28" octagon. Brass blade front sight, with sporting rear sight. Full length mag. Oval thumbprint dust cover, with screw fastened rail. Plain trigger. Walnut forearm and straight grip stock, with crescent steel trapdoor buttplate. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Cody Firearms Museum record stating "Type: Rifle/ Barrel Type: Octagon/ Trigger: Set/ Received in warehouse on September 14, 1878/ to 45/60 Octagon barrel, Plain trigger/ Shipped from warehouse on June 19, 1880, Order number 20342". Rifle is also accompanied by a copy of a notarized Letter of Documentation dated 5/27/25 signed by Joe Roberts, Special Ranger (Retired). Mr. Roberts was a Brand Inspector and Special Texas Ranger for 49 years, assigned to investigate cattle and horse thefts in West Texas for the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association. CONDITION: metal finish is largely fading to mottled brown, showing spots of surface corrosion. Wood has worn appearance, with numerous scratches, marks, and dents. Left side of stock has a small crack extending from the receiver. Sound action. Pitted bore has worn rifling. (01-27156/DS). ANTIQUE. $3,500-5,500.
