LIGHTWEIGHT LEVER ACTION TAKEDOWN RIFLE. Cal. 45-70. S# 125420. Bbl. 22" tapered round. Ramp mounted Lyman No. 4 hunting bead front sight w/ original sporting rear sight. Button mag. Blue finish w/ case colored hammer & lever. Special order forearm & cheek piece round knob stock of XX grade black walnut. Style D factory checkering & carving feature oak leaves & acorns. Other features include hard rubber shotgun buttplate & Winchester sling eyes. Left inside of lower tang is marked w/ assembly no. "40" followed by wood grade "XX" followed by "R". Top tang channel has matching assembly & wood grade markings. Factory carving is seldom seen on non engraved motifs. Mfg. 1901. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Cody Firearms record check confirming specifications. Received in warehouse on March 13, 1902. shipped from warehouse on March 14,1902, order number 132516. Return and repair on March 31, 1902, order number 136921. CONDITION: bbl. retains over 97% blue showing wear & spots of corrosion near muzzle. Action retains 80% original blue showing carry wear w/ scattered corrosion. Hammer & lever have strong case coloring on their sides. Original wood finish shows light wear w/ a few handling marks. Checkering & carving remains strong. Bright near excellent bore. (23-2548/DS). CURIO. $4500-6500.
