LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 44 WCF. S# 27184. Bbl. 24" octagon having a bead front w/ graduated leaf rear sight. This rifle is beautifully upgraded to 1 of 1000 configuration including addition of platinum bands & engraving at breech & muzzle ends of bbl. Top flat is marked " One of One Thousand". Case colored action, forend cap & crescent steel trap door buttplate. Mortised dust cover has 5/8" fine checkered oval thumb print. Forearm & straight grip stock of fancy black walnut w/ hand checkering. Left inside of lower tang has assembly number "617". UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Cody Firearms Museum show search form, "Date Shipped: 9-10-1877 / Order number: 9838 " Configuration information matches the upgraded features & style of this rifle. CONDITION: very good as upgraded. Bbl. & mag. tube retain 90% lightly faded blue showing edge wear. Mag. tube has two small dents on left side. Action retains 90% restored case colors showing slight edge wear. Stocks show moderate finish & checkering wear w/ scattered scratches & handling marks having a gap between the forearm & forearm cap. Hammer will not hold in cocked position unless trigger is pushed forward. Bolt will not fully retract allowing action to cycle, extractor & other parts may be replacements. Dark lightly pitted bore having largely intact rifling w/ a light ring a few inches from the muzzle. (01-26435/DS). ANTIQUE. $5,000-10,000.
