Cal. 44 HRF. S# 48536. Bbl. 20" w/ folding leaf rear sight, front sight is integral w/ mag. tube band. Full length mag. Brass action. Left side plate is engraved w/ inscription "AD. Jansen / Fabricant D'Armes De S.M. ll Roi / 27 Rueduia Madelaime / Bruxelles". Adolphe Jansen of Brussels was a gunmaker to his majesty King Leopold II of Belgium. Left side of action has staple mounted saddle ring. Carbine forearm & straight grip walnut rifle stock w/ crescent trapdoor buttplate. Forearm & wrist of stock have added custom hand checkering. Stock has added inletted style sling swivel w/ bale style swivel mounted on forearm band. Mfg. 1890. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: binder of information about Adolphe Jansen & King Leopold II. CONDITION: bbl. & mag. tube have faded brown appearance w/ scattered light pitting. Breech end of bbl. has wrench marks. Action is polished bright showing scattered small dents & marks. Forearm & stock have heavy coat of added finish over worn checkering & scattered scratches & marks. Dark pitted bore w/ partially intact rifling. Sound action. (01-24296/DS). ANTIQUE. $5,000-7,000.
