Cal. 45-60. S# 45514. Barrel 28" octagon with German silver blade Rocky Mountain front sight & graduated leaf V notch rear sight. Full length magazine. Color case hardened action with brass lifter. Walnut forearm & pistol grip stock with ebony insert of fancy black walnut with crescent steel trapdoor buttplate. Style H factory checkering. Left inside of lower tang is marked with assembly number “2165” followed by wood grade marking “XX”. Top tang channel of stock has matching assembly number “2165”. Serial number indicates 1884 manufacture. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Cody Firearms Museum Records check confirming the following: "SN 45514 Date in "8-14-1885 Caliber/ Gauge: 45/60 Bbl. Shape: Oct Other Features: CH (case hardened) Trigger: Plain Stock: checkered stock Pistol Grip Date Shipped :8-15-1885 Order# 22435". Winchester 2 piece green box of 40-65 Win. ammo having flat nosed lead bullets; 15 live and 5 casings. CONDITION: fine. Barrel & magazine tube retain over 60% dull fading blue showing edge wear w/ scattered spots of light pitting & surface corrosion. Receiver, sideplates, hammer and lever show over 30% light & fading case colors with scattered spots of dark corrosion. Loading gate retains 80% original blue. Brass lifter has a good uncleaned patina with sharp caliber marking. Wood has worn original finish, good checkering, showing age darkening around action with numerous scratches and handling marks.
