BREECHLOADING MUSKET. Cal. 22 LR. S# 121700. Bbl. 28". Model 1885 Winder single shot breechloading musket mfg. by Winchester post-1920. The left side of the bbl. is marked with Winchester's mfg. and patent information, with the cal. designation marked towards the breech. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall. Plain wood straight grip buttstock, with musket length grooved wood forend. Dovetailed blade front sight, with adj. U-notch ladder rear sight. CONDITION: receiver retains traces of its original factory blue finish, with the balance exhibiting wear and thinning throw to mottled gray and brown patinas. Bbl. retains the majority of its original factory blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning, scattered superficial handling marks, a few spots of light to mild pitting, as well as light surface oxidation overall. Near mirror bore, exhibiting some scattered spots of light to mild pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Wood furniture shows scattered marks and minor impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. PROVENANCE: Estate of Russell Dickerman. (25-1815/MLW).
