Cal. 45-70. S# 31421. Bbl. 26" octagon, with sporting sights. Full length mag. Original finish was blue, with case colored action. Walnut forearm and straight grip stock, with crescent steel buttplate. Mfg. in 1889. CONDITION: metal finish has faded to mottled brown, showing small dents and marks, with spotted surface corrosion and very light pitting. Wood has age darkened worn appearance, showing scratches, marks, and dents. Toe of stock has a carved marking that appears to be the initial "H". Sound action. Upper and lower tang screws are replacements. Dark pitted bore, with partially intact rifling. (01-27145/DS). $2,000-3,000.
