Cal. 38 WCF. S# 188546. Bbl. 24 1/4". Model 1892 lever action rifle mfg. by Winchester in 1901. Top of the bbl. is marked with Winchester's mfg. and patent information, with the cal. designation marked at the breech. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the buttplate, forend cap, and mag. button, which have been painted red. Plain wood straight grip buttstock and forend. Dovetailed German silver blade front sight, with dovetailed U-notch rear sight. CONDITION: metal components retain trace to fair amounts of their original factory blue finish, with the balance exhibiting a brown patina, and scattered spots of light to mild surface oxidation and pitting. Bright bore, exhibiting areas of dark pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Wood furniture shows scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, with the buttstock exhibiting a chip on the left side of the wrist at the receiver, and a few small filled in repairs.
