RIFLE. Cal. 30 WCF, provided letter lists cal. as 38/55, possibly a mistake. S# 15315. Bbl. 26" octagon. Lyman No.3 front sight w/ missing bead, Winchester express rear sight & combination tang sight w/ large disc aperture. Full length takedown mag. Blue finish w/ case colored hammer & lever. Forearm & hard rubber capped pistol grip stock of fancy walnut w/ crescent steel buttplate. Left inside of lower tang has assembly number "2970" followed by wood grade marking "XXX". UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: included is a letter from Winchester Repeating Fire Arms detailing the following information, "Rifle / 38/55 / Octagon barrel / Plain trigger / Checkered stock with pistol grip / Take-down / Received in the warehouse on June 29, 1896 / Shipped from the warehouse on June 30, 1896, order number 13275 / Returned and repair on November 7, 1898, order number 13167". CONDITION: over 70% lightly faded blue showing edge wear w/ carry wear on action. Hammer & lever have traces of case colors. Wood has lightly worn checkering & finish showing scratches & marks. Sound action. Bore has slightly darkened appearance retaining strong rifling. (01-26541/DS). ANTIQUE. $5,500-7,500.
