CARBINE. Cal. 30 WCF. S# 988145. Bbl 20". Model 1894 Saddle Ring Carbine manufactured by Winchester in 1926. The barrel is stamped with the model designation, followed by the Winchester trademark logo, "-NICKEL STEEL-", and the caliber designation on the left side at the breech, with Winchester's 2 line address across the right. Marble's 94C brass beaded blade front sight, with dovetailed semi-buckhorn V-notch rear sight. Left side of frame exhibits 2 non-factory screws for a rear sight attachment, as well as a replaced saddle ring. Smooth wood straight grip buttstock and forend have been sanded and revarnished at one time. CONDITION: metal components retain traces of their original factory blue finish, with the balance exhibiting a mottled gray patina overall. Bright bore, exhibiting moderate pitting and strong rifling throughout. Wood furniture is good, as sanded and revarnished, exhibiting scattered marks and minor impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remaining sturdy and serviceable.
