Cal. 35 WCF. S# 43609. Bbl. 23 7/8". Model 1895 lever action rifle mfg. by Winchester in 1904. Top of the bbl. is marked with the cal. designation, with Winchester's mfg. and patent information marked on the left side of the receiver. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall. Plain wood straight grip buttstock, with crescent buttplate, and ebony inlaid schnabel tip forend. Buttstock and forend appear to have been lightly sanded and revarnished at one time. Dovetailed Lyman natural white beaded blade front sight, with dovetailed V-notch rear sight. Upper left screw is absent on the left side of the receiver. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning that show through to gray and brown patinas, scattered superficial handling marks, as well as areas of light to mild surface oxidation overall. Bbl. exhibits areas of mild pitting. Dark bore, exhibiting consistent moderate pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Wood furniture shows scattered marks and minor impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. PROVENANCE: Estate of Russell Dickerman. (25-1834/MLW).
